Radiation therapy

OVERVIEW

Statistically, cancer deaths are the highest in Korea, and the incidence of cancer is increasing every year. However, according to a recent announcement, more than half of the cancer patients in Korea have survived for more than five years. This is considered to be the result of various medical technologies.

Radiation therapy has long played an important role in cancer treatment and is used in combination with surgery, anticancer drugs, or radiation alone. Radiation therapy was first introduced in Korea in the 1950s. As computers and manufacturing technologies developed, radiation therapy equipment evolved from two-dimensional (2-D) therapy to three-dimensional (3-D) therapy, intensity control therapy (IMRT), and image induction therapy (IGRT), and was first introduced in Korea in 2009.

Radiation therapy in metropolitan areas was cumbersome and expensive; however, now local residents can avail convenient, safe, and high-quality radiation therapy nearby. We work with patients and guardians in this difficult treatment process and perform radiation therapy with one heart and one soul. In addition, we closely consult and cooperate with professors from various clinical departments related to cancer treatment to ensure the best treatment for patients from beginning to end.
