The Department of Neurosurgery specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with injury or diseases of the brain, spinal cord, spinal column, and peripheral nerves within all parts of the body.

Even minor damage to the nervous system can cause fatal sequelae and permanent disability. Diverse clinical experience, a high level of knowledge, and delicate skills are required for the accurate diagnosis and treatment of such diseases.

The Neurosurgery Department at Kangwon National University Hospital has played a leading role in the education, research, and medical care of neurosurgery-related diseases in Kangwon Province, Korea. Currently, seven faculty members are responsible for providing professional medical care in their fields of expertise, training residents, and educating medical students. During undergraduate courses, we provide education in all aspects of neurosurgery, including the cerebrovascular system, spine and spinal cord, trauma, tumors, pain management, and pediatric surgery. We also promote interest and improve comprehensive knowledge of the specialty of neurosurgery by providing clinical exposure to medical students.
