OVERVIEW

The Department of Surgery, Kangwon National University Hospital, was established in 2000 and has continued to grow. Currently, seven board-certified surgeons perform over 1,000 surgeries per year, treating 10,000 outpatients and 2,000 inpatients annually.

and treats various surgical diseases, and it is divided into specialized areas, such as upper GI surgery, colorectal surgery, hepato-biliary-pancreatic surgery, breast and endocrine surgery, and pediatric surgery.

Upper GI surgery treats gastric and duodenal ulcer-related bleeding/perforation and benign or malignant tumors in the stomach and duodenum. Colorectal surgery treats benign and malignant diseases of the lower GI tract. Hepato-biliary-pancreatic surgery treats various benign and malignant diseases of the liver, biliary tree, and pancreas. Breast endocrine surgery treats benign and malignant diseases of the breast, thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal glands. Pediatric surgery treats various surgical conditions in children such as inguinal hernia, congenital anomalies, biliary atresia, and malignant tumors.
