The medical education class aims to study all areas of medical education, such as the doctor training system, student selection policy, medical school curriculum development and evaluation, postgraduate education, lifelong education, teaching development, and organizational change in medical schools and hospitals..

In addition, it plans to revitalize Korea's leading medical education organizations, the Korea Association of Medical Graduate School of Medicine and the Medical Education Association, and technically and systematically support the strengthening of health and medical capabilities in developing countries in the Asia-Pacific region.


Background of establishment

Medicine ultimately aims to improve human health for a better life, and medical education has become unable to train personnel to provide medical services that play this role. Therefore, there is a need for a professional organization that can meet the paradigm of new medical education. Accordingly, medical schools have discussed in detail the establishment of specialized organizations related to medical education to meet the international trend of medical education and improve quality. Despite being the nation's pioneer in medical education and the largest contributor to the longest history, there is no professional research organization in this field, and other medical schools' investment and research activities in medical education further accelerated the establishment of the medical education department. The need for specialized organizations in charge of education, research, and service functions related to medical education in medical schools is summarized as follows: 
Form the theoretical foundation of medical education based on pedagogical theory and lay the foundation for future-oriented education toward the 21st century
Research and improvement of new curricula, teaching and learning methods, and evaluation methods in response to the paradigm of medical education in the 21st century
Development of new methods to maximize the effectiveness of teaching and learning and specialization of teaching and development·Training professional research personnel and professional managers on medical education
Establishment of a support system for educational units (classrooms or professors) related to medical education

Purpose of establishment

Members' constant interest and arguments regarding the need for a specialized organization for future-oriented and developmental medical education were officially organized as the Medical Education Department in February 1996 with the strong will of the administrative director. purpose of establishing the Department of Medical Education was as follows:
Research and support the development of various theories and application methods of medical education to foster and produce doctors, medical scientists, and medical pedagogists suitable for educational purposes. Develop curriculum, teaching and learning methods, and evaluation methods for efficient medical education. It develops and provides instructional development programs to enhance professors' educational responsibility.
