Pathology

OVERVIEW

Pathology is a study that forms the basis of evidence-based medicine, a major feature of modern medicine, and primarily studies the morphological and functional changes in diseases occurring in the human body. With nearly 200 years of academic history, it is a tremendous pride to have its own culture alive with history and tradition, and close cooperation based on domestic and international homogeneity is an advantage. It is a broad study that includes basic biomedical science and all fields of clinical practice, including morphological changes in cells and tissues, immunochemical expression, molecular genetics, and academic techniques. Neuropathology, head and neck, digestive, cardiopulmonary, kidney, urinary, blood, endocrine, cellular, immune, and molecular pathology are the various fields.

The Department of Pathology, Department of Medicine, Kangwon National University, is striving to train basic medical scientists and educate clinical specialists who can perform clinical diagnoses in hospitals. In addition to clinical oncology, such as molecular testing for patient-specific treatment in the treatment of cancer patients, the human stem cell morphology laboratory conducts micromorphological analysis of human embryonic stem cells, adult stem cells, and induced pluripotent stem cells, focusing on research that tracks changes. This can be used in aspects such as quality and toxicity testing of cell therapy products in various fields.
