Medical humanities is a discipline originating in humanitas, first used by Cicero in ancient Greece, primarily dealing with "humanity, humanity, and humanity" in the medicine and medical fields By understanding the history of disease, history of medicine, role of medicine in human society, and ethics and philosophy of medical personnel's behavior, the emphasis is on developing the ability to present and judge the right direction of medicine and medical personnel in a changing society.
The Department of Medical History and Medical Humanities at Kangwon National University deals with medical-related content such as medical history, ethics, and sociology, and has a masters and doctorate graduate program to train experts. It also presents opinions to various ethics committees of schools and hospitals, along with education across all grades of the Graduate School of Medicine, and actively participates in government policies and legislation to fulfill social responsibilities.
