Physiology

OVERVIEW

This class primarily studies the physiological functions of the heart and blood vessels and the mechanisms of disease development at the cell and tissue levels, and conducts research to comprehensively understand their roles. To this end, electrophysiological, biochemical, molecular biological, and vascular tension measurement techniques have been used.

Currently, lectures on physiology and neurophysiology are provided to medical graduate students, and various lectures are provided to masters and doctoral students at the Graduate School of Medicine.

Currently, Professor Cho Soo-hyun and Professor Park Won-sun are researching in the physiology laboratory on the second floor of Medical Center 1. The main areas of research are as follows.

  1. Studies on the contraction power of heart cells, electrophysiological function control, and cell signal mechanism by various hormones
  2. Study on the mechanism of cardiac hypertrophy and deep vein development owing to ion channels
  3. A study on the mechanism of vascular disease in circulatory disease models (e.g., diabetes, high blood pressure)
  4. A study on the side effects of circulatory and metabolic disease-related drugs on the heart and vascular ion channels
  5. Total screening and discovery of treatment targets for changes in ion channels
